Programs

Future Kidz

This program is for our youngest students, ages 4-6.  Parents love the balance of discipline and fun in this class and its a great way to build on the skills kids need in kindergarten and first grade in terms of listening, working in a group, and following directions. The Future Kidz class focuses on the skills needed for both martial arts and other athletics:  balance, team work, discipline, following directions, and respect.

These skills are taught through games, drills, obstacles courses, and other developmentally targeted activities.  Student’s earn stripes weekly in each area of focus and when they earn all their stripes, they are eligible for their next belt.  Class meets twice weekly for 30 min.

FAMILY TAE KWON DO

Our family classes are offered to those aged 7 and up.  Our unique program follows World Taekwondo Style blended with the best of Hapkido and Jiu Jitsu. This allows class participants to belt rank in Taekwondo, with our black belts ranked through USA Taekwondo, while gaining practical self defense skills and competency in ground work.  Our 1st Degree black belts can choose to have their rank recognized through the international certifying body in Korea, Kukkiwan.

We divide our classes by belt rank.  Curriculum rotates through the week with focus on kicks and punches, forms, self-defense, or sparring.  The schedule is posted on the website and is available through the Zen Planner app. Every class provides an excellent workout, and includes conditioning and stretching.  Testing eligibility for the next colored belt rank is based on participation and demonstrating competency through a stripe system: forms, self-defense, and kicks and punches.  Classes are typically 45 to 50 minutes.  Please check our full schedule to see what time classes are available!

GRACIE JIU JITSU

LCMA is proud to be a part of the Carlson Gracie, Jr. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Team (BJJ), and a Seamless Progression affiliate under the direction of Professor Benjamin Salas. Students in our intermediate and advanced programs have access to all BJJ classes, and can gain belt rank in BJJ. While we study some ground defense techniques in our family classes, the BJJ specific classes offer in depth training and belt progression in Jiu Jitsu.

A typical class goes through a grappling based warm up, various drills on more advanced technique, as well as application of technique. Students are not required to compete to progress in jiu jitsu, however, tournament competition is encouraged and fully supported with bracketed practices and on-site coaching. Mouth guard and grappling gi are required for this class.  Check our Current Schedule for class times; we separate these by age.

KALI / ESCRIMA

LCMA has an active Kali program offering Kali4Kids for our younger students, and Kali and Escrima progression classes for our teens and adults. A typical class involves attention to footwork, which is the key to the art, striking angles, sinawali, sumbrada, and other dynamic drills.

Our instructors are certified in the Kali4Kids program under Tuhon Apolo Ladra, and actively train several styles of Filipino Martial arts including Inosanto/Illustrisimo under Guru Benjamin Salas, and Kampalon Escrima under Guru Edie Mesina.

For those that are interested in tournament competition we compete at the regional, national, and world level in both padded and live stick sparring.  To check out our Current Schedule to find out when we offer Kali.
